The Waimarino Art Awards have run annually for many years now, coordinated by a series of dedicated art-lovers in the twin towns of Raetihi and Ohakune, within the Waimarino area. The Raetihi Promotions Charitable Trust is the governing body. The main aims of the Waimarino Art Awards are to celebrate our local artists. Our artists and makers also welcome the work of artists from the rest of the country. It is a challenge, but heart-warming to see what people outside our area are up to. As well as our artists, we are lucky to have sculptors, potters, glass artists, fabric artists, carvers, weavers, quilters, like the rest of New Zealand. Once a year, though, we put Raetihi at the centre of the universe, and show these off at the Waimarino Art Awards.

Ruapehu Art Awards
Next Show 2025
The Ruapaehu Art Awards were founded in 2016. The Goal was to create an Art event that would promote Art in the Central Plateau Ruapehu and the King Country district giving exposure to new up and coming Artists allowing them exposure by attractive lovers of Art to our district. We also had the goal of making this event a National Art competition to draw in Artists of all levels from around the country and make it into an event where Art Lovers visit to discover fresh new talent on a regular basis For the Artists we aim to: To provide an accessible, welcoming platform for all artists and photographers, whatever age and experience level, to showcase their creativity, gain recognition and possibly be awarded prize money for their work.
