Raetihi Exhibition stands accidentally taken to the Rubbish tip
A blessing in disguise or disaster?
'Fossicked and Found Art Exhibition now open at the RCAC Art Gallery - Northern end of Taumarunui Hakiaha Street State Highway 4 Featuring new Artworks by Raewyn Vanstone and James Cannon. This is a must see for all Art Lovers. Both Artists are making exceptional progress as artists and both taking their Art in new directions, For both James and Raewyn these new methods of expression are really working for them with both presenting some excellent works. This exhibition has been curated by Myra Lowe as is very well presented.
Unfortunately the exhibition stands used for displaying Artwork at the Ruapehu Art Awards and the Ruapehu Art Awards stored at the Downers Yard have been accidentally taken to the tip by the new owners of the Yard. Accidents happen and the Display boards are fortunately insured but it certainly adds pressure to the Waimarino Art Awards team for their opening Late September this year. Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise. You could say the boards were due to be replaced but perhaps there is an opportunity here to create Boards and display panels that can be used not just inside but outside as well making them a resource the whole district could use perhaps? The Ruapehu Art Awards team were immensely grateful to be able to borrow these display stand last year and it was a life saver. If there is anything North Ruapehu can do to help we are sure we would like to accommodate

Brad Galloway Art Exhibition
at Blue Hill Cafe Owhango
25th July - 15th August 2024
Like many Artists Brad Balances work and Family commitments with his passion for Art and all of those with young families know families come first. Yet when individuals like Brad to get a chance to present a body of work it's always Brilliant and there is no doubt Brad has his own unique and distinctive style. Speaking as an Artist, Brad manages to capture the raw primal quality of this land in a unique way suggesting the land is alive . For those of us who live in this part of the world there is no way you can ignore the primal forces just beneath our feet and I believe Brad taps into this
